Beginning the Good-byes

Yesterday was our "reverse house-warming" party. It was a chance for us to see our friends and family before we pack up the house and a chance to give-away some of the things we no longer need to people who can use it. What a day! All day we visited with the many wonderful people that have made our lives here so special. It was bittersweet to see all our great friends in the same day - a concentration of love and friendship. On one hand a reflection of how luck we are to have so many wonderful people in our lives. On the other, sadness at leaving them behind. We truly hope that many of them come to visit us over the next three years both to see them and to share this wonderful adventure with them. As wonderful as this experience will be, our friends here are irreplaceable.

It was special because the girls did my hair and we played with my dolls. I was sad because I wanted them to stay. I hope they come visit us.

It was great to see all of our friends and family one last time before we leave.  We had two different rounds of baguette and brie and, of course, a few bottles of wine.   Our good rug escaped unscathed from a knocked wine glass and my avocado plant has found a new home  I am very grateful for everyone who will put to good use all the baby and preschool equipment we no longer need.

Throughout the day I was continually reminded again how fantastic all our friends and family are and I really hope you can visit us in Belgium

It was fun seeing my friends. I am excited to see my new house in Europe. I want to see the front door and the back door. And to make new friends at my new school.
